Aah… I didn’t have a location set on Twitter. Twittervision naturally needs that. Try #2.

Just returned from a long, lovely walk with my dog. Such a nice evening. Time for a glass of red and a movie maybe.
What a wonderful day! Sun is shining and it’s calm… calm before the storm.
I’m happy to inform that a paper that I co-authored together with my colleague Dr. Isto Huvila has been published by First Monday. The paper, titled Learning together apart: distance education in a virtual world, is about students opinions about using the virtual world of Second Life as a platform to have lectures.
An interesting discovery of the study was that for some students the barrier to participate and ask questions was lower in Second Life than in face-to-face lectures in a classroom. Using Second Life could activate those students that usually do not participate. On this Open University course that the study was based on, there was a student that I actually think I never heard talk during the classroom teaching days that we had, but this students was the most talkative and helpful to other students in Second Life.
I may have to shorten this Twitter experiment to … let’s say 6 days instead of a whole week.
Election day tomorrow. The newspaper was filled with politicians adds. No real stories this morning.
Aah, friday, that means three P’s: Perjantai (=friday), Pihvi (=steak) and Punaviini (=red wine).
I think cyber-threats would make an interesting module and a very important module in the course.
There, the course is planned, and what an exciting course it will be! Next up: planning a course titled The Interactive Web.
